A wonderful place and perfect hosts

Our family of 6 (incl. 4 children between 3-9) spent two weeks at this magnificant place. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute. Cinque Querce E Mezzo is beautifully decorated, equipped with everything you need (not like the typical holiday house to rent) and very well maintained. The house, the pool and the landscaped grounds are all taken care of with dedication and love. Our hosts Gilly and Dennis are outstanding. Read More...

A wonderful time in the Valtiberina...

The only mystery of a stay at Cinque Querce & Mezzo - discovering which were the five and a half oaks. The house Gilly & Dennis maintain up the old roman road above Celalba is spacious with an inviting country kitchen and user friendly lounge, impeccably clean & maintained, and along with the beautiful gardens & pool – a welcoming oasis after hard days enjoying hill towns and remote hermitages in Northern Umbria, eastern Tuscany and central Le Marche. My wife & I stayed all of June and were joined on & off by various family and friends - all totally delighted with the accommodations which were cleaned and remade weekly. The outdoor spaces are open to breezes perfumed by Jasmine & flowering plants, the day punctuated with the church bells, calls of peacocks & farm activities on nearby slopes. The table just outside the kitchen became a friendly gathering point with views across surrounding fields. Mornings, at the other end of the piazza, we enjoyed coffee & views across the Tiber valley to Monte Santa Maria Tiberina (visited twice, with lunches at Oscar’s at the very top). Read More...

A beautiful house in a stunning location

We were two families one of 4 and one of 3 that stayed here in September - October. The house was very well decorated, very tasteful and elegant, it is also very comfortable and has lovely views over the hills. The configuration of the house works well for two families as one can stay in the downstairs wing and one in the upstairs and the living area is between! We explored the countryside - we made a number of day trips and visited Gubbio, Assisi, Florence, Sienna, Anghiari - we went int San Giustino as well as Sansepolcro we also over indulged and put in large order for pottery from Deruta!

“A Beautiful Stay”

Dennis and Gilly have prepared a beautiful home. We travel every summer with our family of six children, and this is one of the nicest homes where we have stayed. The house is very clean, decorated stylishly, and has lovely relaxing views out over the hills, as the house is perched on the side of a hill - yet very accessible and we drive a big van. Outdoors, the garden is lovely with so much to explore. We took walks up and down the hill, visited the peacocks, had a picnic at the summit, swam in the gorgeous pool, picked apricots, watched the sunflower fields come into bloom, made a brick oven pizza, ate on the veranda... played soccer in the yard - I could go on and on. You could really entertain yourself completely without leaving the house, but as we were in a foreign country, we wanted to discover the area as well. Read More...

“Amazing Property and Location – Wonderful Hosts”

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of spending a week in this truly amazing home. It was, by far, the best place we stayed during our time in Italy. The house is large but maintains a feeling of comfort and character. It is beautifully decorated and projects a quality that encouraged us to begin relaxing immediately. When we were not taking advantage of the incredible location to venture out we would spend time walking the grounds enjoying the sights and smells of the garden and the orchard. We particularly liked the lavender bushes that skirt the pool area (which we used daily). Everything, inside and out, is immaculately maintained. The house is clean and orderly and the grounds are (obviously) lovingly cared for. We simply could not have asked for more from a vacation spot, but we got it anyway. Read More...

“It was like coming to a favorite relatives home”

Recently returned from a wonderful week in Umbria with our family (6 adults). We spent what seemed like the shortest and most enchanting week of our lives at Cinque Querces. We are fairly experienced travelers and were prepared to be wary, However our initial dealings via email with the owner, Dennis Sullivan were professional, thorough and very informative plus the very warm personal welcome when we arrived. In addition to being there for us, Dennis and his wife Gilly had wine, homemade bread, apricots from their garden and other goodies. It was like coming to a favorite relatives home!

The house itself is situated high on a hill with views of the Umbrian and Tuscan countryside from every window. At this time of the year there were sunflower fields as far as one could see. The landscaping on the property was done by Dennis’ wife Gilly, a professional landscape designer, who made everything look accidentally beautiful. We were located a very short distance from San Guistino, a small and delightful town that would probably be walkable for some people. For hikers , the house is right on the St Francis trail which allows you to take a short or long hike right outside your front door.
And then, there is the pool, again so beautifully designed and landscaped.. We had very hot weather the week we were there so the pool was always a welcome respite. at the end of the day.

“As close to heaven as you can get”

Stunning setting and the perfect house fantastic holiday!

With everything you need for a fantastic holiday!

Me and my husband stayed at Cinque Querce e Mezzo for a week in July this year. It was amazing! Not only the location and the stunning views. The property is very well taken care of, the interior is very stylish and tastefully decorated. The owners are also very knowledgeable and helpful, ready to assist at any time.

You cannot wish for more, it is as close to heaven as you can get.

“Beautiful villa, beautiful location, perfect hosts”
We are a family of 5 ('kids' being 21,18,15) who enjoy relaxation, sport, good food and wine, areas with style, heritage and a good company. This villa enabled us to enjoy all of these. Its right on the border between Tuscany and Umbria, (Umbria being the lesser visited county but equally lovely - an undiscovered jewel of an area).

The villa itself is a handsome traditional stone building, set in the most beautiful grounds that provide complete privacy. It is up a long windy steep track (most amenities are accessible only by road). But this is definitely part of its charm/appeal. Its ensures the most lovely views across the valley, and a gentle breeze that you don't get lower down. With the weather a glorious 35 C you would not be wanting to walk far during the day, and being tucked away you feel you are in the heart of the local countryside. You can easily access villages, local produce, markets, lovely bars. And the long steep hill is excellent for runs or cycles in the cooler parts of the day!) Read More...
